Chillin da Conscious Poet
Cherie “Chillin’” Kabba is a visionary powerhouse whose journey blends technology, creativity, and cultural impact. An award-winning poet and dynamic leader in the tech education space, Chillin brings both heart and brilliance to everything she touches. She is a Technology Queen, but her roots run deep in youth empowerment and creative innovation.
Her professional journey took flight in 2007, after a trip to Africa, when she joined The Intel Computer Clubhouse Network, where she began teaching youth how to harness the power of technology. By 2011, her impact had grown globally—becoming a lead educator for Adobe Youth Voices and a liaison educator for Google, helping young people tell their stories through digital media.
In 2017, Cherie launched her most personal and transformative project yet—The Soultown Magazine, a full-color publication that amplifies underrepresented voices and celebrates cultural richness. With a storyteller’s soul and a techie's mind, she bridges tradition and innovation, using multimedia tools to build a more connected, expressive generation.
Chillin's influence has no borders—she’s trained youth developers in Dakar, Senegal; Dublin, Ireland, Munich, Germany and Dakar, Senegal, sharing her expertise in digital media and the art of spoken word. Her academic achievements are as impressive as her creative output: she holds an:
• Associate of Applied Arts in Graphic Communications
• Bachelor of Science in Business
• Masters in Business Administration
• MIS (Master’s in Information Systems)
All are a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and evolving.
Chillin is more than a tech director or a poet—she is a movement, a mentor, and a modern-day griot shaping the future of storytelling, one empowered youth at a time.
Cherie Mz Chillin' Kabba, Technology Instructor opened a Women's Leadership Breakfast
with a spoken word performance about why she loves the work that she does.
"It was the summer of '69, 'bout the time 348 Black Panthers were arrested for a variety of crimes. Be it blessing or a curse, I entered this earth ..."
Chillin opened the fundraiser with an original spoken-word piece.
My ancestors gave me a word to speak to my friend and CEO, Peter Fortenbaugh. I shared it with him, then shortly after he transitioned to be with God.
R.I.P. friend. I love you.
