Systa Sam is a Latina Poet, Writer, and Auntie, born and raised in the Bay Area, Ca. From 2015 to 2016, she was the co-founder and co-host of an Oakland poetry slam/open mic, N.O.P.E (No Ordinary Poetry Event). She studied Journalism throughout college and received a B.S. in Digital Communications from Oregon State University. In her spare time, Systa Sam enjoys creating anything from photography to home-made candles. She also enjoys performing throughout the Bay Area, spending time with her nieces and nephews, playing softball with friends, laughing til it hurts, and writing creatively.
